The ASA/CAT Starter Kit for U.P.C Codes
This is a special program for members of the American Supply
Association (ASA) through IBCA and the ASA Center for Advancing Technology
(CAT). The program starts with using the U.P.C. number as the key to records and
documents and then also using the U.P.C. bar code labels to identify the items
that flow through the channel. The Starter Kit has been assembled to help
companies understand how to add the U.P.C. to their product master files and
then produce the industry standard computer file and the appropriate bar code
labels that comply with the ASA standards. The kit includes a one-year
membership in IBCA which provides support to keep your company in compliance
with industry standards. The Starter Kit includes the necessary information in
several useful forms. Books are provided in hard copy as well as
"searchable" on CD. Narrated slide presentations are
provided on the Internet and, most importantly, those who buy the kit have telephone
support. The introductory price of the kit is $500. The regular price is
$535. Here’s what you get:
Real People
 | You start off with a free 1/2 hour telephone consultation
to determine your own company needs; i.e. label printing and appending the
U.P.C. to computer files.
|
 | As time goes on, when you can’t find it in the book or on
the "Net" just call; you’ll speak to a person familiar with the
specifications, standards and implementation issues. |
Support (The Kit includes one Year Membership in IBCA)
 | Obtaining your U.P.C. Number -- We’ll help you get
the forms, fill them out and send them in.
|
 | Label Review -- send us sample bar code labels and
we will verify compliance with the ASA/IBCA Guidelines, including: label

may send an electronic copy of their "ASA Rules of the Road" file
